Who we are
William L. Burress, Sr. - Founder
William’s lifework and love for people helps them to achieve their life goals. As the Founder and President of C.H.A.N.C.E (Cultivating Hope Around Noble Character Enrichment) Inc., a non-profit organization in Grand Rapids, William has been an active advocate for community advancement and the development of people for many years.
Aligning with his vision to serve and encourage people William is employed as a Chaplain with Marketplace Chaplains. William’s career has also included Workforce Development Specialist and Career Navigator/Coach at the Urban League of West Michigan and Community Health Program Specialist-Fatherhood Coordinator at Spectrum Health & Grand Rapids African American Health Institute. During his tenure as a Community Health Program Specialist, William carried one of the largest caseloads in Michigan and he met hundreds of people who needed more chances at life. His vision has remained to make Grand Rapids a better home not only for his family but also for future generations.
William has earned an Associates Degree from Grand Rapids Community College prior to obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from Cornerstone University. He is bi-vocational and not only serving the community but has also served as Senior Pastor of the Restoration Temple Church of God in Christ in Grand Rapids, MI. As a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, William’s sense of hometown pride extends to caring for and providing resources to the people of the community enough to help them to enhance and grow spiritually and naturally. He has remained a spiritual advisor and counselor to many around the city and beyond. Many of William’s friends and colleagues highlight his thoughtful candor and his ability to encourage people of all ages, from all different backgrounds to achieve their full potential.
